TIME TO RESET - The Amazing Benefits of Dry Brushing

Updated: Mar 30, 2021

Did you know that even limited time outdoors in the summer can cause damage to skin, hair, and scalp, even when sunblock measures are taken?

A season of fun and sun can result in dry, flakey skin and clogged pores, preventing our body's own natural oils from providing much-needed moisture. When nothing is done to treat summer skin, we go right into fall’s cooler temperatures and only compounding the issues that lower humidity and dry indoor heat can bring.

Dry brushing your skin breaks up the toxins, improves digestion, promotes skin circulation, supports muscle tone, and for me, the best reason to dry brush is that it supports the lymphatic system which is very important for the immune system. It can also drastically reduce cellulite which is composed of toxic fat build-up that results in wrinkled skin. Naturopathic doctors use dry brushing to help with bloating

by helping the lymph nodes shed water and toxins,

which also helps kidney function.

Dry brushing is a fabulous daily practice for removing / exfoliating dead skin cells. It is best to be done in the morning, as it can be invigorating and energizing! Always use a “natural" brush, going clockwise and towards the heart.

Before your morning bath or shower, start dry brushing at the feet, then go up the legs to the hands, then up the arms, then the shoulders, abdomen, and back. Note: avoid open cuts, abrasions, eczema, and psoriasis.

After dry brushing, nourish your skin with natural oils. Anti-Ageing Aesthetics has a custom-blended oil perfect for hydrating and softening skin Our custom-blended body oil, which contains argan oil, cranberry seed oil, and jojoba mixed with clary, sage, ylang-ylang, carrot seed and a dash of a dose of frankincense, also helps treat fine lines, brown spots, scarring, and stretch marks.

But wait... we have one more step to keep you glowing and smooth from head to toe! Not many people realize that anti-aging measures can be taken to nourish thinning, sun-damaged hair and a flakey scalp, giving them a more vibrant and youthful appearance. We recommend "pre-pooing" once a week, and a good practice is to include this weekly into your dry brushing routine. Work our custom-blended hair & scalp oil (pure coconut, avocado, grape seed, and almond oils infused with lavender, rosemary, peppermint, chamomile, and sage) and massage through hair and into scalp. Then shampoo for luxurious locks!

After patting dry, relax with a cup of hot water with lemon, which not only aids digestion but is an excellent natural source of vitamin C (one of the main antioxidants that protects skin from free radicals).

Ahhhhh....This is how a proper day begins!
